The Citadel has provided community-based youth work in Leith since 1980. We are an experienced voluntary organisation with strong links to local people and local partners. To see some of our latest news click here. We are based at 175 Commercial street. To see a map of where we are click here.
Our flexible, community-based approach provides all kinds of young people with learning, leisure, friendship and access to adults who care and who can do something to help whenever it is needed.
Our open access youth clubs, projects and individual support are all designed to meet the needs of the young people in our area as they see them - we keep in touch with parents, schools and other services to understand their needs too. Click on the appropriate service for more information on what we do or to see some of our past projects click here.
Most young people come to the Citadel because they know it is a good place to be. Some young people come to the Citadel because their school or other support service has reffered them for more help. For more information on how to reffer yourself or a young person you know click here.
We have a team of full time staff, sessional workers and volunteers. Our staff team is skilled in:
- Group work
- Individual support and coaching
- Health and wellbeing
- Girls work
- Intergenerational work
- Youth participation
- Arts, drama, games, music....... you name it, it can happen at the Citadel.
