Andy Thomas
Andy is a project worker at the Citadel and has been with us since 2005. He has been a youth worker for 15 years now and likes being part of a voluntary youth centre.
Andy enjoys the work he does immensely...
"I like being able to work with kids of different ages. The wee ones in the junior club, for their energy and enthusiasm, and the way their faces light up when they’ve done something that they’re proud of. And the teenagers, for their ‘banter’ and their ‘attitude’, and the way they won’t let you away with treating them with anything less than total respect.
It’s great to work with so many enthusiastic volunteers too, people who are prepared to give their time to local kids for free. It helps to remind why I started out in youth work, as a volunteer, many years ago."
Things you might not know about Andy- He has double jointed thumbs, which means he can freak out kids of all ages by ‘breaking’ his own thumbs!
