 One of the disadvantages of re-vamping the Citadel is that we have lost some space from the hall at the rear of the building. Obviously, we want as much space as possible to meet the needs of all the young people in Leith with an exciting programme and as wide a range of activities as possible.
Leith is changing - the Waterfront development will see many new family homes being built in Leith, and the Citadel must be ready for more young people in the area. So, we have decided to launch an appeal, to build an extension onto the ‘old Citadel'.

 The Citadel is finally getting spruced up, thanks to the help of City of Edinburgh Council, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Historic Scotland, Youthlink and the Community Regeneration Fund. The project to restore the building to a wind and watertight state, and re-vamp the insides, will take until early 2009. No more bars on the windows!
